Sermon on the Mount

I love it when I get to use more analog processes in my designs, and this project was a perfect example. The theme section for this issue of Bible Study Magazine was covering the tricky passages in the Sermon on the Mount, and how often the teachings of Jesus were opposite of the common understanding at the time.

For each article, I found an image that would help connect the reader to the content, printed it, cut a shape, rotated and then rescanned the composition. There were some great artifacts that made it through, the cut imperfect cut lines, and a bit of the dot matrix ended up being visible in the final product. They gave some tactile feel to the composition rather than just mimicking the effect digitally. The image for the introduction is Mount Tabor, the likely location of the original teachings.
